Some of the lessons I've learnt along the way:

Tip #1

Never have only one product to sell. It is important to have backend products to sell to your customers once you get them into your funnel. You will be told by any knowledgeable internet marketer that it is much easier to sell to someone who has already purchased from you, than it is to get a new customer.

Tip#2

Do not make the same mistake I made and miss out on the most important part of creating an online business the research!
In the world of internet marketing you can pretty much take the guess work out of whether you are going to make money or not purely by doing your research.
Up until recently I was building my website based on keywords I thought would be easy to target, but using a keyword research tool I very quickly realised that I was targeting keywords that were already oversaturated and statistically did not have much chance of getting to page 340,000 on Google let alone Page 1.

Tip # 3

Basically there are two main keyword strategies organic traffic (traffic that you direct to your website without paying any money) and PPC traffic which is paid advertising using mediums like Google AdWords or Yahoo PPC etc. So basically your outcome depends on:

- Your budget; or
- How quickly you want to see results

The Organic method (SEO) can take some time to:

- Build a list
- Build a following; and
- Start building relationships with your customers.

Whereas PPC is much quicker method but can be very costly

- If you do not know what you are doing
- Have not tested your market or
- Have not tested every aspect of your landing page and sales copy for ultimate conversion

There is no use paying for, or driving lots of traffic to your website, if your website is not optimised to convert any of that traffic. In fact it is a guaranteed recipe for failure!

Organic list building

If you are going to try and work your way up the rankings in the search engines organically, I highly recommend targeting what in the industry is called Longtail Keywords. Basically these are the keywords that are typed in when people search for something on the internet that have more than 3 words eg.

- Internet Marketing would be considered a Market
- Internet Marketing Tools would be considered a Niche
- Internet Marketing Ebook Tools would be a Micro Niche (longtail - more than 3 words)

The more specific the niche the more chance you have of being

- Found on the internet
- Getting traffic into your funnel
- Converting that traffic and
- Selling to that customer over and over again.

Tip #4

If it is your first website and you do not have a big budget try and target Longtail Keywords or Micro Niches that fit into the category of no less than 80 searches per day and no more than 50,000 competing pages for that same keyword.

If you are more experienced with

- Driving traffic
- Using other peoples lists or
- Attracting power affiliates

Than you can obviously strive for higher more popular keywords, but I recommend starting small when you are new to internet marketing.You have more chance of getting to page one organically with less competing pages than an oversaturated market. or keyword.

I still recommend finding a keyword that is a micro niche to a topic that you are knowledgeable or passionate about. It is much easier to create an online business on a topic that you are interested in than one that might just be profitable.

Tip #5

PPC Ads

If you are a newbie and do not understand Google Adwords or PPC advertising it may be best to get someone to help you with your first campaign. There are many people who have been burnt trying to create their own campaign without understanding the system.

A couple of suggestions that has helped me:

- Try doing an AdWords campaign on one of your longtail keywords (they are less likely to be as expensive as some of the more popular search terms)
- Try and find keywords that are less that 0.15 cents per click that are still on page one 1-7 ranking (hard to find but they are still out there)
- If you have a bigger budget then you can obviously target more expensive keywords but, I recommend the smaller ones until you understand what you are doing.
- Always put a daily limit on how much you want to spend. That way if you have done something wrong you know that you will never spend more in any given day than you can afford to lose.
- Always put a time limit on how long your campaign will run. I usually run 3 days and then check my reports and statistics to see what is happening. If you are converting and you are making money that is great you can keep tweaking and adding more keywords. If you are losing money and not converting then you have to start tweaking one thing at a time to see what is not working and fix it until you start getting your desired results.

All Aboard!! Hogwarts Express leaving from your PC! Well that was kind of how it felt when I discovered the magical land of the internet - that 'other' world that lives in the ephemera. We all agree it, the net, is there and so it is; in some circles that is called a delusion :-) We agree it's there though we cannot touch it, we only see a representation of it on our PC and many times the people we think are behind the sites are not... and yet still we persist/trust/believe. What's more 'it' promises us nirvana; all the riches and enlightenment we can click for plus guidance to great health, bodies, food, relationships and everything in between. Is it any wonder I felt (feel?) like a kid in a lollie store? But wait! there is more to the quest of earning cash online, just like at Hogwarts things on the net are not always as they seem.

We first started exploring the world on working online because it was too hard to find paying work in Bolivia and much of the online opportunities (ie traditional online jobs) are not available here. We had to find something to generate some income because we have with three kids under ten. After searching unsuccessfully for a period of time, I was brought up old school - it's there... we just need to look harder, we decided to explore online business options. As you might expect we found the whole box and dice. To continue the Harry Potter analogy we found everything from Harry right through the Voldemort. I will be delighted to share with you our experiences with the 'dark magic practitioners and their spells' in later articles. So after months of debate we finally bought a safe product because EVERYTHING comes with a guarantee right? Hmmn now there's another story. I still feel insecure ordering products over the net; it's the whole smoke and mirrors thang. It is like being in a magical world where images appear and disappear, expertly distorted with a continual blast of fantastic claims which often turn out to be just that. And remember we are overseas volunteers with no income which is why we were being so careful.

So we held our breath and ordered our first product. We emailed the company first and asked all about the package, the guarantee, we searched online forums etc. Now there's the other thing, blogs used to be a trusted source of information. Now a hefty percentage are nothing more than affiliate marketers 'pre-selling'. In short? lies. In fact we came across numerous 'get rich' programs that advise fledgling marketers to do just that - sign up as an affiliate and then lie by writing glowing testimonials. Incidentally we emailed one such affiliate guru and asked him about the ethics of his 'fail safe money making affiliate training program' - funnily enough he never replied.

I was raised at a time when your word meant everything. It is fine for internet marketers to sell - that is the job. Sure talk up a product... but blatant lying is something else. Caveat emptor takes on a whole new meaning on the net. And many of the so called watch dog bodies are a fury as well. Sure - sell - but don't lie - I am apaulled at lying in general and lying with intent on the net is worse when so many people are searching for help and they get lies. My current theory is we are so accustomed to the net being about information and now the lines are being blurred through the contemporary approach to internet marketing/selling - it's like an electronic turkey shoot. But I digress...

We started out with an all round product that teaches a variety of ways to make money online - from traditional jobs through to web design and affiliate marketing. Before leaving Australia my partner, a techie, insisted we develop a blog site. He talked me round by saying a blog was a good way for friends and family to stay in touch with our travels; I reluctantly agreed. Here's other other thing - I can't imagine why other people, complete strangers want to read my/our opinion in the form of blogs. However, I have been proven wrong - maybe it's the voyer in all of us. Therefore, we had a fledgling site and so a starting place for some of the strategies in the newly purchased package. I am honestly not sorry we bought that first package because it oriented us to employment/money making possibilities on the net. And the company stresses the need to be ethical in all dealings - something that resonated with us. Honestly we have not made any money using that product because we have used it as an orientation/information package. On a personal note, there was no time to do the work required because at that time the kids were not at school, we were attending Spanish classes, volunteering etc - it was a very intense period. But the package did help us build our fledgling website and to my complete shock/disbelief - that famous line "if you build it they will come" is true! I am still flabbergasted. Maybe folks are interested in why we chose to live and work as volunteers in a developing country with three kinds under ten - maybe there's an SP book maker making a fortune out of us somewhere...

Anyway spurred on by the success of our initial purchase we, perhaps naively, made a series of other purchases, not all as good as the first but we were learning. And after months of searching, talking, reading and purchasing lemons, we finally decided to enter the foray of internet marketing - I know, I know... my fingers tremble even as I type those words. But we are both highly ethical people AND we are both 'over' working for and in organisations that profess one thing and do another. For example, I worked in Government Policy and social services for years - talk about bashing your head up against a brick wall! Besides, we have both found this time as volunteers really rewarding; we have more time with our kids; we see our efforts make a real (however small) contribution and our kids are able to interact with the world in a way they never could have in Sydney. So we have decided that internet marketing will support this way of life; it will enable us to make a real contribution. And no nothing altruistic about it; we are getting as much as we give. That said we are wholly self funded so we need an income. Anyway we have decided that internet marketing is the 'lesser of two evils' and so we are going for it. And we are determined to develop an approach/brand that is about honesty and transparency; all products tested by us and we will provide customer support to the extent we can with two people part time.

Because we are not the kind of people to do things by halves we have, I am almost embarrassed to say, signed up under a 'guru/mentor' who is internationally renowned and enormously successful. We have decided to use the bits of his advice that sits comfortably with us and ditch the rest. We are also thinking about how programs like his may be offered in perhaps community settings - community colleges, community centres etc. As you may have guessed our ethos is to 'pass it forward'. This kind of program would be a great way to help people help themselves. Those who can afford to purchase these kinds of programs already have some resources at their disposal. What about those that don't? Who knows, Maybe the internet could be magic after all?

Anyway the point of this article is to warn newbies to be careful before selecting any new, super guaranteed, sure-fire, fast, latest developed, secret weapon program. We have, and many are just smoke and mirrors. And as I said, many blog and forum posts are not trustworthy; watch out for the death eaters. Before purchasing a product contact the website and request real information about the product and use the results of your communication as a guide. You are, in theory a potentially valuable customer/word of mouth marketer/blogger for that company. Make sure you are treated like that before you buy. In later articles I will chronicle the products which from our experience constitute the good, the bad and the ugly of internet marketing. I hope you find them useful or at least a good read.

Forget about all of the complex, convoluted research protocols you'll hear bandied about by the online marketing gurus, the tool you'll need to buy, the seminars you'll need to attend and all of that nefarious nonsense. Just pick a product that you can sell. It should have a good track record of earnings, preferably be a nationally known brand and have a good online visibility profile. There are, I dare say, THOUSANDS of products that fit this profile, so don't waste TOO much time trying to pick the perfect one. (later, you'll move on to a second, third and fourth anyway)

3)Register a domain name that is as close to the product name as you can get WITHOUT violating any trademarks. (trust me on this one, it's NO fun fighting the big companies on this one, I've unfortunately learned the HARD way.

4)Choose Your Keywords. Pick keywords that relates well with the product, and TRY to make them specific "buying keywords" whenever possible.

5)Write Articles Using the Keywords in the title, and submit to ezinearticles.com. In Your resource box you should link to the domain you registered in step three. (preferably using resource box strategies that compel, cajole and gently coerce folks to click on the link)

6)Put a one page redirection on the root, or top level index page of the domain you registered, that AUTOMATICALLY forwards directly to the affiliate program you picked in step 2. All of the traffic that hits this page, from your article box, will go to the vendors affiliate page with your cookie.

4. List builders. These are a different breed of safe list type marketing where you pay for access to a well established data base of prospects. The best ones often have the higher conversion rates so ask around.

Most aspiring new Internet Marketers are looking to start an internet business for the same two reasons: namely, to create more freedom and choice in their lives. They may give different reason but usually, if you dig a bit, the fundamental reasons are all about these two core values, the two values prized by human beings above all others, freedom and choice. Freedom to do whatever you want to do and the ability to choose, when and with whom.

However, most of these new marketers have only the vaguest idea of where to begin and many of them do not have tens of thousands of pounds to invest in their idea and so do not even consider it properly. However, today, there are several fantastic "businesses-in-a-box" which have all of the systems set up and in place, including turnkey sales and marketing systems, lead capture pages, full training and product suites and all available for a relatively modest investment of between £300-£2,000. If you compare that to the investment required to start up a bricks and mortar franchise of at least £15,000 and upwards, this is incredibly good value given the return that some of these internet businesses can produce if marketed properly.

And this is the key, the number one reason that most internet businesses fail, is that the person who invests in one does not have a clue what they are doing, do not generate any traffic to their site and so do not sell anything and therefore make no money. Coupled with this, often they join an internet business where once they have paid their membership fee, they are orphaned and left to get on with it by themselves, with no help, guidance or training.

Bearing this in mind, if you genuinely want to start an internet business and have between £300-£2,000 of start-up capital to invest, then you absolutely can do it. My Internet Business was already created for me, all I did was duplicate what other successful people in the business were doing. The key difference though, is that I bought into an internet business where full internet marketing training and techniques were provided, together with one to one support and mentoring. I have to work hard with this business, but the hard work is the marketing of the website and generating traffic to it. Once that is done, turnkey systems kick in to convert potential prospects into sales. How fantastic! You can do the same.

If you are researching an internet business to invest in, consider the following:

1. Make sure you can talk to an actual person about the business.
2. Make sure that you will be provided with enough resources, training and one to one help to enable you to effectively market your business and generate enough traffic to produce sales and income.
3. Conduct as much research and due diligence as you need to into an internet business opportunity. Ask plenty of questions.
4. A genuine business will require some element of work from you so do not be mislead by claims of vast earnings from day one or week one. It will not happen, you will have to learn, and apply and take action.

Let me get one thing off my chest before we begin the first article in this series, which I think of as "How to make money online... for REAL PEOPLE":

I am not an internet marketing expert. I have not made millions online.

Whew. I feel better.

But that's why you should keep reading. Search for ways to make money online and you find a lot of flim-flam. A lot of magical methods to make a zillion dollars tomorrow. Photos of guys holding wads of cash: I made this much, and you can too. In fact, if you don't, I'll give you all of your money back.

This article and the ones that follow it (to be published along with non-article-length insights on my blog) were not written by a guru. They were written by an average guy who is good at offline business, and who has learned one thing very well during a few months of initial research:

Making money online is based on business, not magic. You cannot wave a wand made of AdWords techniques and start earning $10k a month. You need to build it, brick by brick.

That's the good news and the bad news together. It's bad news because you're not going to get rich overnight. But you never really believed that anyway, did you? You wanted to believe it. But you also wanted to believe in Santa Claus. Deep inside, you knew better. Money doesn't come from nothing. There is no such thing as a free lunch.

But that's where the good news comes in. The understanding that a serious internet business is, well, serious business should make all of this feel real to you. It should make you feel that you can do it, because magic doesn't need to show up in order for it to happen.

To date, I have made $103.45 online. You're looking at that, thinking of those millions that you want, and you're disappointed. But I want you to consider some things:

1. I'm writing this article on December 6, 2008. I earned my first cent online (literally ONE CENT) on November 13, 2008, about 3 weeks ago.

2. I started knowing nothing about this. I build websites for a living, but I never knew anything about how to make money online. I never had a serious internet business. In fact, I once had to turn down a client because she wanted ads on her website and I didn't know the first thing about ads.

3. Most people never make one cent online. A few people do manage to make one cent by owning a blog and slapping up some Google AdSense ads, but they never make a whole dollar. Some of those people do get a dollar, over time, but never get paid. AdSense won't sent you a check until you make $100. So we're back to square one: In the end, the vast, vast majority of people who think about an internet business never actually receive one cent.

4. My website is called "Serious Internet Business" for a reason. Making money online is a business. Business is not easy off the internet. So buckle down and prepare yourself, because it's not going to be easy ON the internet.

Try this for a second: Go to Google, and do some searches for "easy money online" or "make money on the internet easily," or similar phrases. The sites you find offering easy money will invariably try to sell you something. Because the serious, realistic, honest way to do this takes work. It is not easy.

Now, I don't know about you, but that actually encourages me. Give me a normal hat, and I can't pull a rabbit out of it. But give me a trick hat and explain how it works, and I can do the trick too. I can repeat the trick if I understand its basis in logic. But I can't repeat a trick based on flim-flam.

If you're new to these articles (and let's face it, you are all new because this is a new series), what you'll see is a guy who is good at BUSINESS figure out how to make it work online. You'll watch me earn my 104th dollar. Then my 200th. Then my thousandth. Because I understand that a serious internet business is based on sound business principles, not hype.

I'll tell you how I'm doing it. You'll see what I screw up. And, more importantly, you'll see what I do when it works.

You'll see it from the perspective of a guy who is new to this - who won't speak over your head because I'm not able to.

So for step one, here's what I've done so far: I've set up my blog, using a pretty simple process I'll explain later. I have another, personal blog which I may mention later if I decide I want the two worlds to intermingle. I've put up some AdSense ads, and I've sold some affiliate products - again, I'll explain more later.

Lastly, for Christmas, I asked my mother for the IttyBiz Online Business School. (Yes, I actually did ask for and received an informational course for Christmas.) The internet is a wonderful source of information - both good and bad. It's also a playground of profitable possibilities for would-be and seasoned shysters and scam artists. Apart from pornography, one of the most prevalent types of content one can find on the web is in the moneymaking category. And I guess, like sex, money has universal appeal!

The starting point in getting to grips with this reality is to realise greed plays a big part in human nature. Sorry to be so blunt, but it seems we're wired for it. You see this played out over and over - whether it's men and women battling each other to grab the best garments in a crazy sale, or crazy people queuing up to get financially fleeced in some hair-brained pyramid money game. The motivation is the same. Something for nothing - or almost nothing. And that desire is fueled by greed.

If you can accept you may have a built-in propensity to seek the easy route, to get your hands on easy money - and factor that into your decision making - then you will be in a much better position to more rationally appraise various moneymaking opportunities.

There are two main generic scams continually circulating on the internet. One is the "advance fee" scam, and the other is the "Ponzi" or pyramid scheme. The first is epitomised by the "Nigerian Letter" fraud - which is essentially a promise of big bucks in exchange for processing fees to retrieve the money. This often involves receiving an email announcing you have either inherited or won a lot of money, and that you need to open an offshore bank account to retrieve it. The strategy is to suck you into the scenario to such an extent that you become emotionally wedded to it. Then, when you are asked to put up a fee to make things happen, you are already hooked and part with your cash without a whimper. The promoters then disappear with your cash, never to be seen again.

The ponzi scam is named after Charles Ponzi who came up with the novel idea of enticing investors with the promise of very large returns - and paid them out of new investors' money. In the end, of course, the last investors lost their money, and the whole thing was exposed as a complete fraud. Some ponzi schemes are very crude - like the original chain letter. You'd think we would have risen above that one - but it keeps on resurfacing. However, most are now more sophisticated, often disguising themselves as an "investment" with unusually high returns.

Over the last few years such ponzis have sharpened their act, and now present themselves with smart, professional looking websites - plausible wording and an enticing sales pitch. The primary hook, apart from the promised returns, is the referral fee - if you recommend others. In this way, the modern ponzi can harness the viral marketing power of the internet in ways impossible in the snail mail age.

Now I have nothing against people playing money games as such (it's their money), provided they know the rules of the game, and understand the risks. You see, I'm very much of the opinion that people should be allowed to do what they like with their own money. However, when you remove regulatory oversight, you have to take responsibility for your own decisions, and realise what you are getting into.

If you know the risks, then it's like gambling - where it is clearly understood that there are winners and losers. However, it does appear that some people can't tell the difference between gambling (in all its forms), a ponzi, and an investment. And this fact is often used by the authorities as an excuse to enact laws to protect people from themselves.

For example, it's imperative to distinguish between ponzi schemes and gambling. And it shouldn't be hard. Gambling involves taking a stake in a money game where there are clear rules and directives as to who becomes the winner. Luck is the usual arbiter in gambling - and this is managed in various ways. It could be Lotto, where numbers are drawn from a barrel; it could be a lottery where one person has the lucky ticket number; or it could be horse racing or sports, where you place a bet on the outcome of the race - where "form" and luck both play a part. The point is, in gambling you know there will be winners and losers, and you know the means by which this will be determined. You have full disclosure

Not so with a pyramid or ponzi. If a ponzi is disguised as an investment, then it is likely to offer high returns (to appeal to greed), and use referral fees to get people to spread the word. Now, the explicit message is that everyone who joins up will make say 10%, 20% or even 100% per month on their money. However, the truth is only the early birds will catch the worm and walk away with the loot. Why? Because the funds to pay out the promised returns come from the new players, and eventually they run out.

The pertinent question is, do these new players fully understand they are funding earlier "investors", and do they realise they could lose their shirt? Probably not. If a moneymaking scheme states that it is a "game", makes no guarantees, and openly declares that your money is paying those before you, then you know the rules before entering and cannot cry over spilt milk if you lose your money. On the other hand, if money is taken using terminology that indicates a legitimate investment is being offered - which later turns out to be a ponzi - then clearly the participants have been defrauded because they were not told the true facts.

In a situation like this, one should be able to pursue legal action to reclaim the lost funds - because such money was taken under false pretences. However, such a retroactive course of action does not mean one shouldn't exercise rational judgement before entering into any form of investment - even more so, if exceptional returns and referral bonuses are being paid.

So you have gambling, which clearly discloses the risks inherent in participating; ponzi/money games, which usually don't, and are essentially fraudulent offersm and finally you have real investments. Of course, putting your money into legitimate investments does not eliminate the risk of losing your money - it's just that such a structure is not set up with the purpose of defrauding you. When you invest your money you should demand full disclosure as to the inherent risks of the proposition. However, no investment is 100% safe. Even government bonds depend finally on the state's ability to forever tax its citizens - something I personally wouldn't want to bet on.

So to recap: the essential difference between a scam, gambling and an investment - is the "rules of the game" are known in advance, and you participate in the full knowledge of the risk you are taking. A ponzi scam deliberately misleads, whereas gambling and investing offer disclosure as to the risks.

You cannot avoid risk of course - it is part of life. You will never find a truly risk-free investment. Even money in the bank, in most countries, is deemed "unsecured" - and therefore at risk, should the bank fall over. So accept risk as part of life and concentrate on weighing up the risk - according to your own requirements and your psychological response to such risks - against the perceived benefits you may receive. I knew that with the current (and probably future) economic situation and the precarious job situation, I had to do something to take control of my future (and that of my family). Website Videos Improved in Less Than Three Minutes By Richard Day

Poor color balance, insufficient light, out-of-focus, shaky fuzzy videos are much too common on the video sharing sites. With the exception of HowHub.com it just doesn't matter which video sharing site I look at, they all show some videos lacking in lighting quality.

As an unscientific study, I looked at one-hundred videos on YouTube. This is a very unscientific estimate, but, I find that 5% of the videos on YouTube are lighted poorly. I looked at the "Featured", "Most discussed", "Rising", "Most Viewed", and some random videos...even some of the most successful videos are successful even though the light quality is bad.

Insufficient illumination:

The most glaring problem is insufficient illumination. People turn on their camcorders and if they can take the picture, that's all they appear to worry about. The worst offenses are indoor available-light type videos. These are typically videos of the pet, a baby, a family or whatever taken inside by tungsten available light.

The solution:

All they had to do is either balance the camera to the light source color temperature. Or, just ask the subject to move closer to the light...or move the source closer to the subjects. It isn't hard to do, but you just need to be aware of the importance of the light color, and adjust for it.

By the way, a camera can be adjusted for tungsten light or florescent light, or daylight, but it cannot be adjusted to any two or more illumination temperatures at the same time. For example, if you have window light illuminating part of the subject and tungsten light also hitting the subject, you will have a problem. If you adjust for the yellow tungsten light, the daylight will look very bluish. On the other hand, if you adjust for the daylight, the tungsten light will look very yellow.

Additional problems that are apparent in the "low-light" indoor situations:

Wide open apertures -

The camera's iris opens wide to allow as much light as possible into the camera. Most camera's lenses are less sharp at wide open apertures...additionally, there is very shallow "depth-of-field" at large apertures. (Depth-of-field is how much of the field, or area, is in focus in front of the subject and behind the subject.)

To illustrate depth of field, here is an example: If you are close up and fill up the viewfinder to take a head shot, you might find the the eyes are in focus, but the ears are out of focus. However, sometimes, the ears are in focus and the eyes are out of focus...not so good. Or, in a group of people, the front-most person will be sharp, but all the others in the background will be out of focus. This can be disconcerting to the viewer. The solution: Add more illumination and balance to that source.

Slow shutter speeds -

As the camera adjusts to allow more light in, it slows down the shutter speed to very slow levels. Small, but quick, movements of the subject will consequently be blurry...this can be used to your advantage, creatively, but that is another topic all together. The solution: Add more light on the subject.

No tripod - If the camera has chosen a slow shutter speed and the photographer is hand-holding the video camera, you have the recipe for a difficult to watch video. By the way, the tripod will help eliminate the tendency that some people have of "Watering the Garden" with their video camera. They want to get it all in, so they just move the camera around and "water" everything.

It is much better to stop, think, look at the subject. Decide what you want to show. If you need to pan, determine the starting point of the pan, and then determine the ending point of the pan. Start by spending a little time at the beginning and then, VERY SLOWLY pan. When you get to the end of the pan, you might spend a little time at that position, and then end the scene. The solution: A tripod is the solution...even an inexpensive one will improve the quality of the video tremendously. The tripod will help eliminate camera shake, and excessive panning.

Deep shadows, high contrast

We have talked about the color of the light, the intensity and quantity of the light, but what about character of the light? Diffused light is very important in all photography, but it is especially true in video photography. The digital rendition of reality has a rather narrow range.

We can see and experience 1,000,000 to 1 ratios between light and dark, but film cameras and digital cameras can only render about 250 to 1, at best. Consequently, we must do our viewers and audience a favor. Reduce the contrast of the picture by adding diffused light. Diffused light eliminates the harsh shadows usually caused by window light on an angle, existing light, and other close-in sources of light. The solution:

* If appropriate, take the subject outside on an overcast day. You will be amazed at the improvement in your result.

* Make your photographs or videos with the son light behind the camera in early morning or late afternoon light. Avoid noon lighting.

* Use open shade which is shade in the shadow of a building or other structure. This light can be very flattering to your subject, but it is a bluer light. You will need to correct for the blueness of the light.

* In an indoor, available light situation, put your back to the window and work from a large broad window if you can.

* In the studio, purchase two or more florescent light boxes and stands. They are not very expensive. The "light box" diffuses the light incredibly well and improves your photos or videos tremendously.

How about a cheap solution?

"OK, you say. I hear you. We need more light. Lots of it. And it should be of the same color temperature and it has to be diffused. Isn't there a simple, inexpensive way to accomplish this?

Yes. Go to your local home improvement store and purchase one of those quartz work lights. These lights have a quartz tube that give off lots of light and cost about $10 each. Reflect and aim the light into the corner of a neutral colored room. Don't aim the light directly at the subject. Remember, you want balanced diffused, not direct harsh light.

The light will be yellowish, but your video camera can be adjusted for that. Don't let any daylight come in the windows - do your videos at night, perhaps. The light will be diffused by bouncing around the room, and the light level will be very high. These are just the characteristics you want.

In summary: To make good videos, we need great quantities of diffused light of a single color temperature. This will help eliminate out of focus pictures, and blurry videos because of slow shutter speeds and wide open apertures. Always use a tripod.

The first step is to use the CAT section of PostalOne! CAT stands for Customer Acceptance Testing. It allows you to use pretend postage on pretend mailings to make sure you know the process and the postage amounts are correct. This is an important step as you do not want to use real postage while you are proving that you have your process correct.

After you are done with proving to yourself that you can use play postage on the CAT site, you will start parallel processing. This is where you present your mailing documents (3602s, 3600s...) in paper as you currently do, plus you upload to PostalOne! via Mail.dat or Web Services. This proves to the USPS that you are still presenting the correct paper documents and you are able to present the same data to the USPS with electronic documentation - eDocs. Parallel testing usually lasts at least 5 contiguous business mailing days and often more.

After you are done with parallel processing, you can stop producing the paper postage statements and related documentation. You will simply submit the data and view the data on the USPS PostalOne! site.

There are many ways to make money on the internet. It all depends on how much you want to make. If you are like me, making money on the internet started out for me as a curiosity rather than a need. I knew of people or at least heard of people making tons of money on the internet. I was initially very skeptical and decided to investigate the topic a little more.

What did I find out? Yes, you can make money. And yes, there are people who make tons of it and make a full time living out of it. It is not a fad. It is not a gimmick. It is a real business and you can make a decent living out of it. Will this business wither away to oblivion? In my opinion, it will not, and it is going to stay with us all the way. In fact, it is going to drastically change the way we work! But, I am digressing from the topic, so let me get back to it.

So, how can you make some money - quick easy money - without much investment or even zero investment. Let me tell you how to make money from the internet with zero money down, but I have to warn you that it will take some effort from your part. There are a number of ways. Here is one I have used and tested.

Use a blog. You can register a free account in a number of free blog sites. I particularly like blogger.com. Before you register a blog name, you need to do a bit for research on the topic you want to write. The topic can make a major difference in your income but this is another topic. Now that you have a blog, you can write your blog post. Make sure your blog contents are of value and interesting to the reader.

In the blog, you can add in Google AdSense. Now this is the easiest way to monetize your blog. When visitors come to your blog site, they may click on the advertisement placed by Google and you then make some money.

Next, to make even more money is to promote other people's products related to your blog content. You can do this by signing up with Clickbank. There are others commission junction and paydotcom. Once you have selected your products to sell, signup as affiliates and promote them on your blog. Again, if people buy the product, you earn a commission.

The final step is to drive traffic to your blog. The easiest way is to write articles frequently and submit them to article directories like EzineArticles. I must say consistency is the key to making money on the internet.

All the methods I have mentioned are all free and the best thing is, they are the easiest way to earn money on internet without spending any money! This method may not earn you enough to quit your job, but will definitely provide you with an 'idea' on how the internet works. It also helps you make some money as well! In the beginning, God (a benevolent dictator) created an idyllic garden for Adam and Eve. He wanted them to be safe and happy forever. He warned them not to eat of the tree of knowledge (milepost 1.0) because it contained the knowledge of good and evil. They ate the apple and gained knowledge. He expelled them from the garden of Eden because that was His law. The benevolent dictatorship ended. Adam and Eve and all of their offspring were subjected to the never-ending conflict between good and evil.

Time passed and Tribalism evolved into Feudalism as the primary form of government. That was up until about 570 years ago when Johann Gutenberg perfected the printing press and moved us to the next milepost, The Tree of Knowledge 2.0. His invention made possible the mass availability of the Bible thereby spreading knowledge of good and evil. Other books were also made available that resulted in new ways of thinking and new forms of government including Marxism, Socialism, Fascism and our own representative democracy. The level and complexity of the conflict between good and evil escalated.

Today, with personal computers and the Internet we have arrived at The Tree of Knowledge 3.0.

First, look at what is happening on the web. There are about 1.5 billion users on the internet and it is reported to be growing about 18% per year. Statistics vary, but there are over 100 million blogs online and over 77% of internet users read blogs. Today it takes less than 5 minutes and no financial investment to start a blog.

In Gutenberg's time, printing a book was faster than transcribing but still very time consuming and the number of different books published was limited. Today publishing on line is cheap and fast. It is available to the world at the push of a button because distribution is "digital." This truly is The Tree of Knowledge 3.0 and with it, I fear we have ratcheted up the level and complexity of the conflict between good and evil.

It didn't happen overnight. It needed the computer, the internet and the technology of Blogger and Word Press to make it possible. It is being promoted via Social Networking technology such as Twitter, Technorati and others to come. The truth is, we are still on the leading edge of this expansion.

If you don't think it is a Reformation, think again. Look at what is happening around you. Our world is changing very rapidly. Old institutions like newspapers, magazines, the postal service, banking, Ford, General Motors and Chrysler are expiring right before our eyes while the new digital world is flourishing.

Even our governments locally and internationally are floundering and with good reason. Socialism has failed every where it has been tried. Representative Democracy is failing because politicians and citizens have learned they can vote benefits for themselves ignoring the good of the whole. The one good thing here is we know that self interest works. How we direct self interest in a positive direction is still to be determined.

The Tree of Knowledge 3.0 is the milepost of the New Reformation. Many governments including our own, are trying to prolong the life of the old institutions with bailouts and government regulations. They will lose in this effort because the transformation is inevitable. Our politicians don't get it either. They try to prop up parties and failed solutions with the same old rhetoric.

While I can't predict the future, I am convinced that:

Individual freedom and voice is more important to people than ever before. Look at the the blogs, YouTube, Twitter, MySpace and the rest of the web.

Specialization drives us towards ever increasing fractionalization in our society. We have moved from broadcasting with 3 major TV channels to narrow casting with 400 channels.

There is something to be said for James Surowiecki's "The Wisdom of Crowds".

Hold on tight, we are free falling into an incredibly new and important part of history!

In doing so they send me a sample where every sentence begins with the key phrase. Or one sentence ends with the key phrase and the next sentence begins with the same key phrase.

In this article I show you my top 13 tips on how to create professional looking newsletters.

1. Design Scannable Newsletters

According to recent study by usability expert, Jakob Nielsen, about 50 percent of readers skimmed or partly read the newsletters. Only 23 percent of readers read the newsletters all the way through. The remaining 27 percent were never opened.

So make the text easy to scan by:
# using short paragraphs
# using bullet points
# including plenty of white spacing between topics
# highlighting topics with uppercase or bold text in HTML newsletters

2. Insert Line Breaks

Improve the readability of your newsletter by formatting it with hard line breaks at 60/65/70 characters per line. You can use a text editor, such as TextPad, and set it to insert hard carriage returns at the end of each 65-character line.

3. Include Newsletter Title In The Subject Field

Include your newsletter title at the beginning of the subject field. This will help the reader differentiate your newsletter from junk emails. It will also allow them to filter your newsletter into a separate folder with the use of filters.

4. Make Your Subject Field Sell!

Advertise the most enticing story of each issue in the subject field. You literally have seconds to grab the readers attention, so make it count.

5. Include A Table Of Content

Include a table of contents at the top of the newsletter. This will allow readers to scan the topics to see if anything in the newsletter catches their interest.

6. Fix Long Links

Long hyperlinks may be broken when you format emails using hard line breaks at 60/65/70 characters per line.

To fix this problem, deselect word wrap after you have inserted the carriage returns. Then manually edit the links to ensure they are on one line. When the email is sent, a link may still wrap onto two lines. But now it will be clickable.

7. Avoid Spam Filters That Flag The "Unsubscribe" Word

Do not use the word "unsubscribe" in your removal notice. A number of spam filters flag emails containing that particular word as possible spam. The reason is many spammers now offer "unsubscribe" functions that don't actually do anything.

8. Avoid Spam Filters That Flag Chain Letters

Some spam filters are flagging emails that asks readers to forward the newsletter on as chain letters.

Avoid using the word "forward" and any of the following words in the same sentence, "all, anyone, every, friends, many, others, people." Instead of "forward," try using "pass," "share," or "send."

9. Reduce Remove Request Emails

There are two methods to reducing the number of remove email requests from your subscribers:

* Include a removal notice at the top and bottom of the email.
* Place the bottom removal request at the very bottom of the email, rather than a few paragraphs from the bottom.

10. Design User-Friendly HTML Newsletters

Most people use an 800x600 screen resolution, but the email preview pane is usually much smaller than the full screen. So format your HTML table widths at 500-600 pixels at the most. Better still, use a relative (percentage) width table, which will allow your newsletter to be resized when viewed in different sized windows.

11. Create AOL Friendly HTML Newsletters

AOL try to protect their users by eliminating potential security hazards. As such, AOL email clients do not support the following HTML objects:

* ActiveX
* Audio
* External Style Sheets
* Frames and IFrames
* Java
* Meta Refresh
* Scripts: JavaScript, Perl, VBScript, etc.
* Tooltips
* Video

In addition, the following HTML tags are the only ones supported by AOL email clients:

To set this, select "Options" under the "Tools" in the top menu bar. Then select the "Spelling & Grammar" tab. Under "Spelling" check the "Check spelling as you type" check box and click "OK." Word will underline all of the words that contain spelling errors.

Alternatively, check your spelling using SpellCheck.net, a free online spell checker.

Tahun 2008 ini, saya yakin pemanfaatan media internet di Indonesia untuk pemasaran produk akan semakin meningkat. Selain karena jumlah mereka yang ‘melek’ internet meningkat, juga karena banyaknya media dan wadah pembelajaran online marketing. Ebook-ebook tentang bisnis internet semakin banyak. Kursus-kursus pemasaran internet bermunculan. Belum lagi liputan media massa terhadap pelaku bisnis berbasis online. Saya sendiri dan tim saya pernah diliput Majalah SWA, Majalah Pengusaha, Majalah DUIT, Majalah Bisnis Kita, Tabloid Kontan, Koran Malang Post, dll

Website Anda harus bisa meyakinkan pengunjung bahwa Anda layak diajak bertransaksi. Cantumkan alamat jelas dan no telp yang mudah dihubungi. Cantumkan foto-foto produk dan foto-foto lain yang membuat pengunjung semakin percaya dengan Anda

Website Anda harus terindek di search engine, dan mudah ditemukan untuk keyword yang berhubungan dengan produk Anda. Gunakan script toko online yang search engine friendly.Tidak semua script toko online ramah dengan search engine. Karena itu, saya lebih suka menggunakan blog untuk jualan online daripada script yang tidak ramah dengan mesin pencari. Dan saya rasa blog cocok bagi pemula. Apalagi untuk produk-produk yang harganya mahal dan tidak bisa order online secara langsung. Bisa juga blog menjadi web pendukung bagi toko online Anda

3. Promosi Tepat

Siapa calon konsumen Anda ? Dimanakah Anda akan menemukan mereka ? Cara cepat dan tepat menemukan konsumen adalah dari search engine (google, yahoo, dll). Disinilah pentingnya SEO (search engine optimization)

Promosi yang lain adalah di iklan baris, iklan di web yang banyak pengunjungnya, PPC ataupun komunitas online. Tentu saja harus kembali lagi “Siapa Calon Konsumen Anda”

4. Pelayanan
